Children’s Telescopes

The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 telescope is an excellent choice for a first telescope, and is particularly well suited for children, since the telescope is only a few feet high.

One of the greatest reasons why the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 makes a great first telescope is that it is easy to operate; there is no complicated motor drive and no complicated computer to get in the way of observing space, just point the telescope at what you want to see and enjoy!

The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 is very lightweight and portable, making it perfect for backyard viewing, as well as for nighttime trips to the local park. The telescope features Teflon joints and tensioning springs, making positioning the telescope as smooth as possible. Unlike many telescopes at this price point, the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 does not compromise on build quality, and uses a steel tube, versus a cardboard tube, to hold the lenses in place.

The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 is a reflector telescope and is excellent for viewing the moon and is good for viewing planets in the solar system and star clusters in space. The Orion SkyQuest XT4.5 is fine for galaxy viewing but is not great for astrophotography.

Through the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5, you should expect to be able to see craters on the moon, the rings of Saturn, four of Saturn’s moons, Saturn’s Cassini division, binary star systems, star clusters, bright nebulas and Jupiter’s great red spot.
