Intermediate Telescopes
The Orion SkyQuest XT8 is a superb telescope for serious amateur astronomers interested in buying the best value on the market. Excellent optics, great build quality and a fast aperture makes the Orion SkyQuest XT8 the best 8” reflector telescope in its price range.
The greatest feature of the Orion SkyQuest XT8 is its impressive light gathering ability, 800x that of the human eye, providing exceptional deep space viewing not normally found on such affordable telescopes. Additionally, the Orion SkyQuest XT8 is very simple to operate, with its simple mount, lack of complicated motor drive and lack of complicated computer to detract from your observing; simply point the telescope toward the sky and start enjoying!
The Orion SkyQuest XT8 uses tensioning springs and Teflon joints to make the telescope move as smoothly as possible when navigating the sky. Unlike most 8” telescopes, the Orion SkyQuest XT8 is built extremely well,
offers superb optical quality and is rather portable.
The Orion SkyQuest XT8 is a reflector telescope that can be used to see the moon’s craters and lunar mountain ranges, planets, open and globular star clusters, dual star systems, Saturn’s rings, Saturn’s moons, the Cassini division on Saturn, nebulas and other deep space objects.
The Orion SkyQuest XT8 is perfect for deep space viewing; however, it is not suited for astrophotography. When being used for planetary viewing or when being used in the presence of a city’s ambient light, a neutral density filter or a nebula filter will likely be required.
